The ICT/Networks team deals with computer networking infrastructure across Havering and Newham . Supporting numerous sites over the two councils, the bulk of the work consists of connecting our users and partners and ensuring that this connectivity remains resilient and robust as a platform for the numerous applications that the councils have deployed
In this role, you will be supporting the councils’ network technical team
To install, upgrade, support and maintain network infrastructure, application and system software operated by the council and to provide an installation, support and diagnostic service.
To perform third line fault resolution on network infrastructure equipment and to use and implement standards and policies to benefit the workings of the council. Familiarity with the concepts of Quality initiatives such as ISO20000 and ITIL is useful, although not essential
Maintain and manage to a high standard the ICT Cisco firewalls along with other portions of networking infrastructure. Configuration for usage, day to day operations and maintenance through upgrades and patches.
Take a lead role in network related infrastructure projects
The planning, installation, configuration, development and practical use of corporate networking products within the business environment
Able to work to agreed schedules on projects where priorities and circumstances often will change. A cheerful, proactive and innovative approach is essential
Communicate with Council and manufacturer's staff in all areas on a technical and non-technical level in person by telephone and in writing as decisions made will be of a complex nature
The ability to set out and follow standards and procedures and to provide advice based on the standards and procedures to other users of the Authority's computing facilities
