The Early Help Hub is part of the Brighter Futures Directorate at Newham, it consists of a small team of Practitioners managed by the Early Help Hub Manager and reporting to the Early Help Coordinator.
The team operates on a rota for screening contacts in the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) to determine the most suitable early help service for families referred for support or protection, management of this team requires a strong understanding of thresholds for statutory intervention and the management of risk in Tier 2 services ideally gained from experience managing similar teams or from a qualified social care background.
Outside of work in MASH practitioners hold a small case load of families where some support and coordination is required to enable the family to move to support from Community Early Help, for example in schools, children’s centres and the voluntary sector.
This is an interesting, varied and busy role and there are opportunities to contribute to the wider work of the Early Help Hub through delivering training and network events, providing advice and guidance to community partners and charing panels.
The Early Help Hub has recently moved to the new Brighter Futures Directorate and a “rethinking early help” project has been initiated so this is an exciting time to join the service and help shape the Early Help Offer in Newham for the future
For this role you will need to have the skills and experience to:
· Provide leadership and coordination for the Early Help Hub taking responsibility of day to day operations and oversight of case work, including allocation of cases
· Support the implementation and embedding of Newham’s Early Help Framework in the Early Help Hub.
· Be day to day link to the CYPS MASH /Assessment and Families First service to ensure an integrated approach and work within the Newham Together framework is embedded cross all front door services.
· Support seamless transitions of plans between universal, targeted, specialist and statutory services utilising the Early Help Framework as the key tool in this process.
· Develop and manage effective communication channels with a wide range of stakeholders across Children and Young People’s Services and external agencies including, schools, health and voluntary organisations.
· Develop and manage information systems and protocols for sharing information between agencies and services, and engage and support universal and early help services during the transition to common information sharing and case management processes.
· Establish and coordinate a robust quality assurance framework to monitor and evaluate the impact and outcomes of early help work in universal services.
· Support the implementation and embedding of Newham’s Early Help Framework – Pathways to Help and Support across Universal Services, Early Help Services and voluntary organisations through programme development, training, one-to-one advice, and facilitation of the Early Help networks
