Are you interested in joining an organisation playing a vital role in the democratic process? Now is a really exciting time to be joining the Electoral Commission with a number of significant elections due to take place in 2021.

The Electoral Commission is the independent body that regulates political campaign finance, sets standards for well-run elections and works to promote public confidence in the democratic process. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a UK Parliamentary General Election Advice and Returns Manager to join the Regulation Directorate.

 

The role

You will be responsible for a small team that logs and publishes statutory returns and analyses this information for compliance with political party and election legislation.

You may also be working on the delivery of proactive and reactive advice to political parties and other campaigners in relation to political finance.

You will support the Head of Registration and Reporting to deliver effective, risk-led, consistent, proportionate and robust regulation of the rules on political finance in support of the Electoral Commission’s aim of transparency and integrity about poltical finance and in line with the Commission’s vision, strategic objectives and plans.

Role Requirements

You will have experience of working with financial data and an ability to identify difficulties in reported data and a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.

You will have excellent collaboration skills and be able to build productive relationships easily with people at all levels and engage effectively with other functions across the organisation. In addition, you will be confident in proposing and initiating new ideas, activities or projects, as well as respond positively and effectively to changing circumstances. 

You will have good communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills as well as a strong appreciation of the political environment in which the Commission works.
