HS2 Project Manager
About us
Hillingdon Council: Putting our Residents first.
About the role
This is a two-year fixed term position (with potential for extension)
HS2 is one of the largest engineering projects in Europe. It is planned to be Europe's fastest train line and will run a service more frequent than some London based tube networks when fully operational. Consequently, it is a hugely complex project, from planning, through construction to the operation; and it runs directly through the London Borough of Hillingdon.
You will be the interface between the Council and HS2 Ltd and its contractors. You will ensure effective collaboration between the parties to ensure the Council is fully engaged and involved in the continued development of the project.
You will develop a multifunctional understanding of all elements of the project and how it can, should, and is being implemented. You will work collaboratively with the project developers, represent the Council and its concerns, collate actions and ensure effective communication. You will work closely with the project team to secure improvements to the design of the project and restoration of the land for a better outcome for the borough.
You will provide briefings to senior politicians; you will coordinate responses and actions related to the project and you will process timesheets for the Council.
This is a very exciting opportunity to be involved in the delivery of one of the UKs most ambitious
About you
You will have extensive working knowledge and experience of project management, with a particular background in large scale new development, ideally with expertise in the field of environmental impact assessments.
You will have demonstrable experience of managing project teams, working knowledge of multi-disciplinary environmental matters and a good understanding of interpreting and applying legislation.
You will have a sound background in developing partnerships, problem solving, negotiating improvements to projects and the ability to understand and explain complex problems.
