St Paul’s Way Trust is an outstanding ‘Through School’ with a track record of innovation. Drawing extensively on academic research the school provides a unique curriculum experience centred on our six ‘Graduate’ strands. Our award winning new building is situated in the heart of East London. Professor Brian Cox OBE is our Patron.
Our exceptional links with QMUL, King’s College London, The University of Warwick, The UCL Institute of Education and the University of East London help shape an inspirational science curriculum including that we are London’s only Faraday science school. Science is an increasingly popular subject at KS4 and KS5 with the majority of students in our expanding academic sixth form studying at least one of the sciences.
Working within a supportive and collaborative faculty, you will be an outstanding classroom teacher with a firm commitment to the progress of all students in our heavily oversubscribed school. This is an excellent career opportunity for a colleague who is passionate about shaping a rich and challenging science curriculum and is seeking to develop their career into middle leadership. The successful candidate will have an unwavering belief in the potential of every student. They will do what it takes to ensure that students achieve their best, and will have the contagious enthusiasm for the subject, which excites and motivates students.
They will work alongside the Head of Faculty, Lead Practitioners as well as leading other science colleagues to make an impact on student progress, and develop a rich curriculum and wider opportunities across science.
We have high expectations of all students to be taught the best powerful knowledge as defined by the scientific community. We believe all teaching should be evidence informed so teachers can focus on high impact methods in their practice with sensible implications on workload. Planning of lessons are based on principles derived from cognitive science and distributed through the department to drive collaboration. The science department delivers CPD weekly that focuses on making our subject knowledge strong with a focus on high quality teacher explanations. The Subject Leader plays a critical role in defining how powerful knowledge is planned, taught and assessed presenting real opportunities to lead the design and implement our curriculum.
The culture of the SPWT science department aims to support new and experienced middle leaders to thrive and continuously develop, within both their teaching and leadership.
If you would like to play your part in delivering outstanding provision, whilst receiving the very best support to develop your career, then we would very much like to hear from you.
