Income Operational & Verification Team Manager
We are looking to fill a crucial position within RevenueServices leading a team of 32 in an income operational and verification role, providingan excellent service to the Councils residents and businesses in accordancewith legislation, local practices and strategies. The role will primarily deal with Council Taxand Business Rates but will include all income streams due to the Council.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include –
Maximising revenue the Councilreceives from all areas of income by delivering efficient, progressive, highquality services, ensuring accelerated and sustained improvements againstCouncil Targets.
To minimise losses of income dueto tax avoidance schemes and fraudulent activity through improved data managementand more collaborative approach with other directorates and governmentdepartments.
Responsible for the developmentof policy and strategy on all matters relating to income opportunities and riskfrom appeals and other fluctuations in the valuation list for both council taxand business rates.
Responsible for the provision ofinformation and data for consultation documents and compiling all grantclaims/statutory returns for Council Tax, National Non-Domestic Rates and otherincome in accordance with the legislative requirements within statutory time frames.
Requirements
Essentially, the candidate should have significant experience of managing a local taxation team at a senior level and be able to demonstrate a full understanding of legislation governing the collection of local government income and statutory government returns.
