Role Purpose
The Mechanical Engineers role is to work within a busy TechnicalServices Team that delivers works across a corporate property portfolio(Non-Housing) under the direction of the Senior Mechanical/ Electrical Engineerset within a wider M&E team under the leadership of the Senior PlannedMaintenance Surveyor. The Mechanical Engineer post holder will organise, manage andoversee the delivery of a high quality, cost effective Mechanical engineeringservice in accordance with the needs of various client groups requiring abroad based knowledge of all aspects of Mechanical works from Gas Fired boilersystems, Large Ventilation plant, Legionela control through to refrigeration, Lifts, Air conditioning and Roller shutters.
The role isto organise and manage the Mechanical works allocated to ensure delivery of theseaspects of the team’s overall objectives. To provide an exemplary professionalservice to ensure that properties are effectively and efficiently maintained,repaired, adapted, improved or replaced, in accordance with clientrequirements, good practice, legislative and statutory requirements and toachieve agreed performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for managing and leading on all allotted Mechanical aspectsunder direction from the Senior Mechanical/ Electrical Engineer regardingthe planning, review and delivery of these Mechanical engineering works tofully meet the requirements of the Council’s corporate repairs, Statutory maintenanceand development, revenue and capital programmes.
As anacknowledged Mechanical engineering expert across the broad portfolio of works includingbut not limited to Mechanical refurbishment projects of large multi flooroffice blocks, through to the technical expert to guide Mechanical contractorsoperatives in the correct processes to maintain the councils broad range ofequipment in its portfolio of Non-housing buildings ensuring reactive repairsare correctly specified and delivered. The development of designs fromconception for Boiler room plant, Air Source heat pump heating system, Air Handlingunits/ cooling ventilation systems through specification and formal tenderprocess to managing project delivery within agreed time and cost constraints.
The role includes providing technical advice on variousworks and projects required to maintain, improve and/or develop corporateproperty. Design, specification and management of Mechanical projects and statutorycompliance programs for the full range of Mechanical aspects. Experienced in managing a mechanical maintenance program for commercial buildings would be an advantage.
Requirements
HigherNational Diploma in Mechanical engineering, extensive experience in direct managementof Mechanical contractors/ qualified Mechanical operatives delivering works tocommercial property portfolio or significant experience as a qualified engineerworking directly on commercial plant and equipment in the following disciplinesGas Boilers, Large Ventilation plant, Air conditioning
