Mortuary Manager - Senior Anatomical Pathologist Technologist
The post holder will work a 35 hourweek and will participate in the out of hour’s rota.
Role Purpose
To assist the Environmental Health and Trading StandardsService in managing the Public Mortuary based in Poplar High Street, London E14.
To deliver a joined up response to the Coroner’sService and to assist with discharging the Council’s duty in relation to PublicHealth funeral’s.Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Be responsible for the overall running of and help develop short andmedium term strategies to deliver the mortuary service.
Carry out casework, and assist the pathologist in post-mortems andforensic cases, including keeping records, administrative arrangements for the receptionof bodies into the mortuary and the release for burial or cremation.
Maintain an awareness of all legislation, professional development andnew initiatives nationally and locally in respect of the mortuary service.
Undertake casework of a high profile or complicated nature as necessaryand assist the pathologist in post-mortems and forensic cases.
To be responsible for the health and safety policies applicable tothe mortuary.
Maintain a comprehensive system of monitoring and reporting of performanceagainst targets.
Be able to work out of hours
To develop short and medium term strategies to deliver the mortuaryservice.
After a post-mortem, the post holder will help to reconstruct and cleanthe body ready for storage or release to an undertaker.
In additionyou will manage the Parish Funerals process.
Requirements
You will need to demonstrate the followingskills:
1. Experience of continuing professionaldevelopment within the Mortuary Service.
2. Experience inmanaging a Mortuary.
3. Excellentcommunication skills, both verbal and written.
4. Wellorganised, with good administrative and computer skills.
In additionyou will need to have the following qualification:
Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology (or equivalent)
