Vacancy Description

If you’re looking for your next Housing challenge, look no further than West Berkshire Council. We are seeking a strong, experienced manager to join our team as a Housing Operations Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a highly autonomous role that you can make your own, joining a council that invests in their staff’s development so they can deliver the best results for our residents.

While the initial onboarding will entail coming into the council offices in Newbury, this role is highly flexible with the opportunity for regular remote working.

ABOUT THE JOB

As Housing Operations Manager, you will manage the operational delivery of the Housing Support and Homelessness Prevention & Relief services, helping team leaders to deliver a range of housing options.

As well as the day-to-day management of housing services, you’ll need to take on the challenges of working in a multi-discipline team with a positive mindset.

With continuous service improvements within the service such as, a new Housing IT system, a new housing allocations policy and a new emerging housing strategy, this job is an exciting opportunity to embed these changes as part of our mission to become a great housing service.

ABOUT YOU

Having significant housing expertise is essential to delivering this role, particularly in homelessness prevention and relief. Additionally, you’ll need over three years’ management experience to take on the challenges of managing a multi-discipline housing team.

As well as possessing a strong knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, you’ll need to be able to represent relevant parties in court and have experience in partnership working and service development.

Being a member of CIH or RICS and being educated to degree standard is essential to this role, as well as experience of managing and reporting on complex projects.

ABOUT US

Joining West Berkshire Council, you’ll be part of a supportive team with a strong set of values. We work with integrity and openness; with everything we do centred on the people in our community.

We care and invest a lot in our staff, aiming to grow you as an individual so you can stay with us for a long time.  Access to leadership and management courses and other qualifications are just some of the possibilities for your continued development.

We also offer a fantastic range of benefits including 29 days annual leave rising to 34 days after 5 years continuous service, flexible remote working and enrolment in the Local Government Pension Scheme. There is also a relocation package available where appropriate.
