Hackney Housing Services provide repairs and maintenance to properties within Hackney, ensuring we deliver a high quality, customer focussed repairs service across our 30,000 homes. With an expanding workforce we need someone to join our Materials and Stores Section as the Senior Storekeeper, managing the Storekeepers to ensure our workforce has the provisions to carry out repairs Right First Time.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking for a position with Building Maintenance in Housing Service. The Senior Storekeeper will lead in the delivery of a vital support role to our Repairs Section ensuring we have correct materials available in time for repairs to be undertaken.
Communication and good organisational skills are essential as it is a demanding and fast moving service. The Store's workplace is a vibrant environment with visitors, service users, managers and suppliers all with conflicting priorities. The successful candidate will ideally have experience in completing the following duties/responsibilities:
- Managing staff within a Stores environment.
- The control of stock levels and respond effectively to requests for
provisions of materials and plant.
- Implementation and maintenance of systems, procedures and practices to
respond effectively to the business needs.
- Build good supplier relationships by being a key contact for day to day
supplier related issues to support the Stores Team.
- Liaise with admin, call centre agents and operation staff to ensure
materials are supplied and issued to correct service users.
- Be able to understand specifications of products including product details
and ideally have some knowledge of construction, however not essential.
- Forklift driving although not essential
- Physically able to move large packages and heavy materials including
climbing stairs
- Use IT systems.
