About the Job

Principal Planner

£39,774- £47,511 per annum

We are looking for enthusiastic and highly-motivated individuals with proven planning experience to join our progressive Planning Team.

The successful candidates will lead in contributing to the delivery of an efficient and effective Development Management service for the borough, including engagement with developers and other key stakeholders in enabling the delivery of quality developments within a robust planning policy framework.

Your role as Principal Planner will require you to lead on all types of Development Management projects including pre-application requests, minor and major applications, and appeals within the Development Management Urban Newham Team. You will also be expected to have delegated sign off responsibility for planners within the team and to assist and guide them in their work.

About You

This is a key role in the Planning Team and you will play an integral role in driving forward high quality development within the borough and effectively turn our vision into reality.

We are looking for individuals with in-depth planning knowledge and Development Management experience within a high performing Local Planning Authority.

You should be self motivated, enthusiastic, able to work as part of a team and have the ability to progress a complex and varied caseload in a positive and solutions led manner whilst supporting others in their own work.

You will be confident in tackling new challenges and flexible in your approach to your work to adapt and meet the needs of the service.

You should be able to lead, innovate and organise, inspiring and nurturing the talent and interest of other team members.
