The Financial & Commercial Litigation team are looking for an experienced Lawyer specialising in section 146 forfeiture proceedings (service charges) for the Council. The person will have their own case load of work and will work under the supervision of the Principal Lawyer. This is an award winning team which has an excellent reputation for cutting edge work in all types of local authority debt related recovery.
The Person
We are looking for an experienced lawyer used to working in a busy office with strong organisational skills. The person should have extensive experience of landlord and tenant disputes arsing out of non-payment of service charges. The person will need to have experience of running cases in the tribunal and issuing fast or multi-track claims in the County Court with sound knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
The person will need to have experience of supervising and managing a team in the absence of the Principal Lawyer where appropriate prepare court documents and attend court on behalf of the less junior members of the team.
The person will need to have experience of providing complex legal advice to senior client officers around debt recovery and attend meetings such as the debt board.
The person will need to prepare debt recovery cases including issuing claims, drafting settlement agreements, witness statements, preparing briefs to counsel and applications to the Country Court and Court of Protection.
