The role:
Would you like to be a leader on one of the biggest council house building and regeneration programmes in the country? This is an opportunity to play a central role in tackling the housing crisis locally and make a real difference to thousands of families in need of affordable housing.
Southwark Council has an ambitious target to build 11,000 new homes over the next 30 years, with 2,500 delivered by 2022. This exciting opportunity is based within the New Homes Development Team, which plays a central role in leading Southwark’s development and regeneration programme.
The team has expanded considerably since the programme was launched in 2012, and our team of three Development Managers are key to overseeing and uniting a large, dynamic team with a wide range of skill sets.
The New Homes Delivery Team are proud of their success on the programme so far, with around 700 council homes completed, over 500 homes on site and another 1,000 that have secured planning. With another 2,000 in the early development stages. The team responded impressively well to working changes caused by COVID-19, with several of our schemes starting on site and completing during lockdown in spite of the difficulties presented by the pandemic.
This ambitious team is keen to get the right person to consolidate their success and move the programme forward to achieve their goals. You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Project Managers and Project Officers responsible for a programme of new build mixed tenure and mixed use developments from inception to completion.
You will provide strategic management, leadership and direction to multi-disciplinary project teams, including internal and external services, technical and professional advisers and suppliers responsible for the direct delivery of new build and regeneration projects from inception to completion. On your team Project Managers deliver projects valued from £5m-£25m and you will have overall responsibility for a programme of schemes valued up to £100-£200m.
You must have experience of delivering new build and regeneration projects and managing delivery teams.
