Finance Systems Assistant
Are you someone with financial reporting experience and a growing love of ERP systems? Then join Shelter as a Finance Systems Assistant and you could soon be playing a vital support role within our Finance department.
A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. Yet millions of people across Britain struggle on a daily basis with homelessness, bad housing conditions, soaring rents, discrimination and the threat of eviction. So, we are striving for change — with individuals, in communities, across society – and leading the way to a safe home. We need ambitious, best-in-class individuals who are passionate about our cause to join us at this exciting time. This is your chance to play a part in the fundamental change we are striving to achieve.
About the Role
This interesting role sits within the Finance Systems team. We support and improve Shelter's financial information systems and help make sure that our financial processes are efficient, easy to use, and well controlled. We also manage reporting tools to help everyone at Shelter fulfil their financial responsibilities and look after our resources. Your challenge will be to make sure users of the system feel supported and able to process finance tasks quickly and accurately. This will require you to devise, advertise and run training webinars and/or e-learning resources for a number of modules in the ERP system. You'll also get involved in the development of, and changes to, the finance system to enable better user experience and improved financial controls. And, when it comes to developing and maintaining the reporting of data from the system to produce more informed business decision making, again, we'll count on you to play your part.
About you
Commercially aware, customer-focused and comfortable collaborating as part of a team, you have great time management skills, strong attention to detail, excellent numeracy and intermediate Excel skills (with SQL useful). What's more, you're used to using accounting software (Unit 4 ERP/Agresso would be great) and are proficient in MS Office applications like Outlook and Word. Experience of providing support to internal customers in a technical field such as finance or IT would also be an advantage, as would a proven ability to identify and implement improvements to business processes. You'll be needed to cover for the Finance System Manager when they are on leave and so an ability to learn quickly, and across a wide range of processes, would be an asset.
Benefits
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 30 days of annual leave, enhanced family friendly policies, pension and interest free travel loans. Our employees also have access to a tenancy deposit loan, payroll giving, cycle to work scheme and an employee assistance programme.
Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help. We’re here so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
