About the role

Are you a qualified Fostering Social Worker, who is passionate about Fostering and looking for a change in your career? If yes, we are looking for experienced Social Workers who are looking for their next career step to join our innovative Fostering team which is responsible for all aspects of recruitment, assessment, support, supervision and development of foster carers, connected carers and Private Fostering carers.

As a member of the Fostering team, you will provide a responsive fostering service to children and their families, where the department is supporting them through either preventative or statutory intervention, with the purpose of safeguarding and promoting their welfare. In addition to this, you will assist children and their carers in the identification and resolution of problems they present wherever possible, within a framework of partnership and choice.

 

About You

You will have prior knowledge and experience of a Fostering environment, a good working knowledge and understanding of the current legislation and frameworks relevant to Children Social Care, Fostering and Adoption including the Children's Act 1989 and its application to Social Work practice.

Applicants will be enthusiastic and highly committed to teamwork and developing innovations such as our highly successful Mockingbird Family Model.

You are a passionate, caring and dedicated Social worker who is able to work creatively with Foster Carers. As a good communicator you will have the ability to work with a broad range of Foster Carers and professionals, including working respectfully with children, young people and their families. You will consistently ensure the views, wishes and feelings of our children, young people are captured in your work with Foster Carers and children. You are able to make evidenced based decisions and seek management advice when necessary. You are able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with children, young people, their families, foster carers, adoptive parents and other professionals.

The role requires a working knowledge of Form Fs, initial assessments, working jointly with children’s social workers, attending strategy meetings, children’s reviews and Fostering Panel, regular and flexible visits to foster caring households undertaking formal supervisions and offering advice, support and development. and writing good quality reports.

There are also lead worker opportunities including making dynamic development, training and learning available to our foster carers and their families. Being able to able to assess confidently, manage risk, plan in an outcome focussed way and producing high quality reports is essential.

Special Requirements for this Post

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful applicants including a Disclosure check. The postholder will need to have a social work degree and hold a current SWE (Formerly HCPC) registration.
