Job introduction

New Posts in the City’s Home to School Transport Service

The City’s Home to School Transport service is expanding and this has created a number of exciting opportunities to join a new enhanced team normally based a Hove Town Hall (currently staff are working from home). The service arranges transport for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities to and from school and other settings, as well as free bus passes for eligible children. The work involves partnership working with families, transport operators and schools to ensure a high quality service, that ensures children are safe, well and happy on their journeys. The service also works to ensure that contracts with transport operators are effectively managed, that routes are tendered fairly and that best value principles are adhered to at all times.

The team has been through challenging times over the past year and is working hard to rebuild trust and confidence in the community it serves. A wide ranging action plan is securing improvements following an independent LGA review of the service, published in March 2020 (https://new.brighton-hove.gov.uk/news/2020/panel-consider-home-school-transport-report).
