Voluntary and Community Sector Partnership Manager

£44,607 - £47,511

Newham is an exciting place to be and to build your career. It is a borough of contrast, dynamism and real opportunity.
Developing strong partnerships with the local voluntary and community sector (VCS) is at the core of Newham’s engagement approach. The local VCS delivers a range of support to our communities and we often commission engagement through these organisations, recognising the strong relationships they have with local people and the important role they play in improving social integration and community wealth building.

Our aim is to work even more closely with the VCS. Through this approach, we will seek to empower local communities (geographical communities and communities of interest or identity) to build a VCS infrastructure that helps people to recognise and develop their own abilities and to establish strong communities that control and use assets to promote equality and help improve quality of life.

This is an exciting new and varied role. The post holder will manage the council’s relationship with a portfolio of VCS organisations, facilitating greater dialogue and interaction between the council (and other statutory organisations where appropriate) and the VCS. The intention is that the post will result in new opportunities and collaborations that will secure improved outcomes for Newham residents.

We are looking for a highly experienced and proactive senior voluntary and community sector manager who can hit the ground running, deliver a range of high value partnerships and build lasting relationships with senior stakeholders. The post will manage a small team as well as a community grants programme.

The successful candidate will be articulate, proactive and self-motivated with a strong understanding of the voluntary and community sector and partnership building. You will be an extremely effective project manager and have the interpersonal skills and ability to work with senior stakeholders across different organisations. You will have an understanding of stakeholder management and community engagement.

If you are the right person for this post, you are likely to have a proven track record with the voluntary and community sector.
