SEN Teaching Assistant
Hours: 27 hours 30 minutes – term time only (39 weeks to include INSET days) – 8.45am – 3.30pm with a daily break and lunch break
Grade: Grade 1/2, Points 3-5
Salary: Pro Rata Salary of £13,522 to £14,012 p.a. (FTE £20,835 to £21,591 p.a.)
Start Date: Required from April 2020
We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant who has experience working with children with a range of special educational needs. The role is predominantly working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant but some group work may be required.
The role involves supporting children with complex physical, sensory or learning and development needs. Experience delivering speech therapy plans an advantage. Any experience using visual timetables, PECs, Makaton, positive handling training and knowledge implementing behaviour management strategies will prove advantageous. There will be a requirement to provide toileting and intimate care support.
Whilst you will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher you will also have the ability to use your own initiative to organise tasks and activities; creating simple resources to support the pupil’s work as appropriate. You will work closely with the class teacher and the School’s SENCO as well as working in partnership with external contacts to support learning and development.
