Welfare Rights Advisor (Female*)

Purpose of post: To provide one-to-one specialist advice, casework and practical support to women with no income in relation to housing & homelessness, and welfare benefits. Providing focussed benefit and employment support to women with no income. Work collaboratively with agencies, teams and partners. Contribute to the support of women at the Project with recourse matters as needed. Monitor, evaluate, record and share progress, findings, case notes and information as needed.
Must have: Minimum 2 years’ experience of providing benefit advice and support work. Working experience within a homelessness service Good understanding of general immigration issues and detailed knowledge of benefit entitlements. Working knowledge of Universal Credit, working regulations and recourse impacting legislation. Experience of delivering workshops to service users on benefit entitlements and processes. Experience of working to complete cases within a short period of time.
Key skills: Proven communication skills in liaising with service users, customers, colleagues and agencies. Demonstrable networking skills and confidence in building strong working relationships Good organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure. Proven administrative and financial skills. Proven ability to develop and maintain partnerships with DWP, other professionals, law centres, statutory and voluntary organisations. Calm working approach.
