We're looking for an engaging individual with considerable experience of managing teams, preferably in the housing or debt advice sector to come and manage our Resettlement Team as a Resettlement Team Leader and play a vital role in the delivery of its services.

The Transforming Rehabilitation Resettlement Team provides a resettlement service in HMP Forest Bank, linking in with services across Greater Manchester. As well as completing initial assessments for offenders in custody, we deliver housing, finance and debt, employment, training and education interventions. We also co-ordinate referrals to agencies and carry out pre-release planning, including reviewing agreed interventions, actioning outstanding areas of concern and preparation for release. Have you got the skills and experience it takes to join us?

About the role
As Team Leader, you'll have operational responsibility for the delivery of all functions in the offender journey in order to fulfil the agreed contract specification and targets. This will involve managing the Resettlement Team, supporting the delivery of accommodation, debt and employment interventions for individuals in custody, as well as taking on the more complex cases. And, when it comes to co-ordinating referrals, overseeing quality and monitoring systems, developing policy or promoting effective working relationships with external agencies, again, we'll rely on you.

About you
You'll need a proven track record in a relevant role, including managing an advice and/or support service and a good understanding of the main issues affecting homelessness and offenders. We'll also be looking for a proven ability to line and performance manage and develop teams and monitor quality, and recent experience of working within the Criminal Justice System. Proficient using case management systems, Microsoft Office applications, internet and email etc., the ability to type is essential too. And, because some CRC and HMP locations are difficult to reach by Public Transport, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle with relevant insurance is preferred.

Benefits include 30 days' annual leave, the possibility of flexible working, enhanced family friendly policies and significant opportunities for learning and development.

Safeguarding is everyone's business. Shelter is committed to protecting the health, wellbeing and human rights of those we support, and enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. Please note that due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is exempt from the provisions of Section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of The Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exemptions) Order 1975. Applicants will therefore be asked to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for an Enhanced Disclosure of convictions (including those which are “spent” for other purposes of the Act), reprimands and warnings.
