Hackney Learning Trust is the Education department within Hackney Council.  It provides a range of statutory and traded services to support the education of children, young people and adults in the borough. Our vision is to provide excellent education for every child, young person and adult learner.

The Education, Health and Care Planning (EHCP) Team is recruiting an EHCP Area Coordinator (South Team).

The EHCP Team

The EHCP Team is responsible for processing EHC assessments, co-producing and reviewing EHCP plans for children and young people aged 0 to 25. EHC plans are issued for children whose special educational needs are severe enough to warrant support from the local authority in addition to that provided by their school.

EHC Area Coordinators and EHC Plan Coordinators
Each Area Team has an EHC Area Coordinator who manages a team of EHC Plan Coordinators who work on individual children’s cases. Cases are allocated according to the school or education setting that the child attends. The team works by assigning Plan coordinators to three areas across the borough: Central, North and South Hackney. For more information please visit the local offer website http://www.hackneylocaloffer.co.uk

Brief Description of Role of an EHC Area Coordinator

You will lead and manage a team of EHC Plan Coordinators working with children and young people with SEND aged 0-25 to ensure high quality work and compliance with legislation and service performance outcomes. To ensure the effective administration of processes and procedures (introduced by the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Regulations and Code of Practice), including but not limited to compliance with statutory timeline for EHC needs assessments and plans, annual review processes and phase transfers. To manage complex case work and remain solution focused. It is crucial that the applicant is able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
