Both posts are in Camden’s pioneering and established private sector housing enforcement team. You will have the chance to work at the ‘cutting edge’ of housing on such interventions as civil penalties, banning orders, rent repayment orders as well as prosecutions. The work will be varied from dealing with complaints and hazards to investigating HMO related offences.

We have an exciting opportunity for We have an exciting opportunity for two organised and enthusiastic Environment Health Officers or a qualified graduate working towards their full registration with the EHRB (or Chartered Status) to join our multi-disciplinary team. The Camden Plan sets out or plan to make homes in the borough safe, well-managed, well-maintained and playing an active role in shaping a private rented sector that works.

About you

To be considered for this post you be either a qualified Environmental Health Officer with a certificate of registration issued by the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) OR a newly qualified graduate who holds a BSc or MSc in Environmental Health (or equivalent qualification) who is working toward their EHRB (or Chartered Status).

Please note if you are not registered with the regulatory body you will start on a lower grade and accompanying salary until you’re fully registered with EHRB (or equivalent) and support and training towards EHRB will be provided by the Council. The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge/understanding of the Housing Act 2004, and other legislation that can be used to control poor housing conditions and the general legislative framework relevant to the team and its application to casework. You will also be trained on HHSRS and have a good understanding of house construction and components including an up to date understanding of improvement trends and capabilities including those around energy efficiency. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their involvement in managing, organising and coordinating cross-service projects, and identify how this has led to a successful outcome. You will be an excellent communicator (both verbal and written) and will be adept at providing excellent customer care and communication skills in explaining complex and technical issues accurately, clearly and concisely both orally and in writing when dealing with all service users.
