It is an exciting time to join the Traffic and Transportation Service at Enfield Council. Enfield holds significant potential for good growth and has an ambitious Council focussed on delivery. As a Service we are energised and passionate about delivering proactive planning to help shape the Borough over the next 15 years and beyond. The recent opening of a new station at Meridian Water and the recent Field Day Festival herald a new phase of exciting regeneration projects coming forward, with the Council taking a proactive role in making things happen. As we progress with our new Local Plan, a number of exciting development proposals are starting to come through the planning process – some led by the Council, others by private developers - and we are in a position to bolster the capacity of both the Planning Service and the Traffic and Transportation Service to help get the most out of these projects. We are looking for exceptional candidates to join the team be part of the future that we are shaping.

Senior Transport Planner

Fixed term 2 years

36 hours a week – We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements including part time hours, compressed hours, working from home and staggered start and finish times

Applications welcomed from candidates interested in arranging a secondment from their current role either from the public or private sector

Grade PO1 up to £36,711 pa pro rata if part time

We require a strategic transport planner to join the team to provide transport planning advice on a range of developments including supporting major PPAs and Council-led regeneration projects coming through the planning service. This role is critical to ensuring that emerging planning and regeneration schemes will improve the lives of local residents, create a great place to live through sustainable transport projects and improvements to the public realm and drive forward modal shift through the planning and design process.

The main duties of the role would be:

  • Provide professional and technical development-related transport planning and policy advice on schemes coming through the planning system

  • Work positively as part of a team within the Planning Service and the wider Place Department

  • Advise on transport, public realm and physical regeneration projects in the borough related to specific PPAs and schemes coming through the planning system

  • Ensuring that schemes are designed to plan for new and improved transport infrastructure

  • Provide advice and present updates and reports to officers, members and other stakeholders involved in Planning and wider Place Department projects.
