We are based at Newham Dockside, which is a state of the art building overlooking London City Airport, just one minute walk from Royal Albert DLR Station. SMRA - £51,309 - £62,697 pa.

This is a rare opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated individual with proven Planning Policy experience, to join our dynamic, high performing Planning Policy Team.

The job requires a high calibre Planning Policy team manager with comprehensive knowledge of the practical application of the legislative standards. You will contribute to Service planning, be responsible for performance and budget management. In addition, you will lead and manage the Transport Policy Service.

A key objective will be to work collaboratively with and provide plan making advice and direction to colleagues across the Planning Service and elected members to inform the progress of pre-applications, PPPA’s and planning applications as part of the successful delivery of the wider functions of the Planning and Development. This will involve regular direct working with the public, partners and key stakeholders, to meet Council objectives as outlined in the Corporate Plan and Service Plan.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised degree in Town Planning and a member of the RTPI or eligible for membership;
  • Experience of management of a group of professional, technical and administrative staff within a Local Authority team;
  • Experience of developing good working relationships with a wide range of internal bodies and customers as part of developing effective Service delivery; and

Ability to plan and work towards a long term strategic vision and translate that vision into reality.
