Street Works Officer
Highway Services is part of the Place Department, under the responsibility of the Director of Environment and Operations. It provides Enfield with the operational capacity to manage the Council’s highway infrastructure and associated assets. The service is also responsible for the delivery of the Council’s Network Management Duty under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the coordination of all highway activities under the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991. The Council is a founder member of the London Permit Scheme and has a dedicated Street Works team to manage all of its statutory obligations.
The Network Coordination Team are looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated person to join its Street Works Team. The Street Works Officer post is an exciting front line role which involves regular engagement with utility companies and contractors working on the public highway. The successful applicant will predominantly be working outside of the office undertaking inspections of utility works within the borough and recording their performance of reinstatements and safety and issue Fixed Penalty Notices when contraventions are identified.
The post holder will also be expected to attend site meetings with utilities and key stakeholders to agree proposed traffic management arrangements.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for this post
We are looking for someone with a good knowledge of Street Works and associated legislation who is innovative and has the ability to generate ideas and develop into this role.
