Adolescent Restorative Justice Worker
Brighton & Hove City Council Adolescent Services is part of a multi-agency Service based within Children's Safeguarding & Care services in Brighton & Hove under the Families, Children & Learning Directorate. The service works with young people whose life chances are adversely affected by family difficulties & breakdown, substance misuse, emotional/ mental health issues, offending and exploitation. We target the most vulnerable and high-risk adolescents in the city, providing intensive multi-agency support to them and their families to effect change.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy and dynamic team specialising in youth offending, as part of the Brighton & Hove Adolescent Service. Restorative Justice, including contact with victims of crime and offering restorative interventions is a key part of youth justice work. The post of Restorative Justice Worker requires specialist skills to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate restorative interventions across the service, as well as providing advice & training and promoting restorative practice in the city in partnership with statutory & voluntary organisations. This post will involve direct work with children, young people and their families, as well as liaison with and support of victims of crime.
You will be working in close partnership with colleagues in the Adolescent Service as well as partners in Education, Health, Police, Probation, Community Safety and voluntary sectors. We are looking for someone with creativity, enthusiasm and energy to maintain and develop the high standard of restorative practice in the service.
You will need to have substantial experience of working with children & young people, including understanding of risk assessment and child safeguarding procedures. You also will need excellent communication and facilitation skills and comprehensive knowledge of restorative justice principles.
