Experienced Practitioner / Senior Advisor for EET
The role LIFE CHANGING OPPORTUNITIES DON'T COME ALONG EVERY DAY EXPERIENCED PRACTITIONER / SENIOR ADVISOR FOR EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATION AND TRAINING, CARE LEAVER'S SERVICE, CHILDREN'S SERVICES Salary up to £47,274 per annum We are looking for a highly experienced individual, who is a self-starter and can use their initiative, working independently and with colleagues to maintain accountability both to young people and to the service. The successful candidate will have a line management and leadership role. Southwark is committed to ensuring that every care leaver is engaged in education, employment and training. This is a priority that is set out in the Council plan. At an operational level, we are committed to ensuring all of our care leavers aged 18-25 have the right support to access opportunities that are right for them. You will know that EET status has an impact across housing, health and wellbeing, social isolation, community involvement and financial independence, and is therefore a critical foundation for their futures. We need you to be able to coordinate and deliver on the Council plan to ensure that our children and young people have high quality EET support and outcomes. You will work to overcome barriers to track progress at a strategic and individual level and build partnerships across the Council and with statutory and voluntary organisations. Southwark Council's Leaving Care team is currently undergoing exciting change. Funded by the DfE Innovation programme, and working in partnership with Catch 22, we are trying to improve the outcomes of care leavers by exploring new ways of working. We are an enthusiastic and supportive team, who are passionate about working with young people. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of, and help shape, the change in our service, and work to co-design the service with young people, local organisations and partners. We have recently recruited experienced practitioners in substance misuse, housing, vulnerable young women and youth work who are keen to join us on our journey and contribute to improving our service. This role is new, and focused on supporting care leavers in Southwark into education, employment and training (EET). You will need to use data, working with managers and the performance team, to understand the trends across the service, then develop your work plan and demonstrate how you will create a positive impact. You will be working with colleagues to deliver, facilitate and promote intensive EET interventions for young people. You will need to develop strong working relationships with key partners such as the Job Centre, and with external organisations and local businesses to ensure we make the most of the opportunities around us. Additionally, you will be sharing your knowledge with the wider service and upskilling colleagues where necessary. You will need to have a good understanding of the local offer and the care leaver's covenant and propel these key programmes. Where care leavers are hard to reach, you will need to adopt a resilient and assertive outreach approach.
