The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames is an ambitious, forward-thinking London Borough with a substantial growth and regeneration agenda. Our ambition is matched by our strong desire to work with our communities to deliver these improvements whilst continuing to preserve and enhance our historical buildings, parks and gardens and remain one of the best shopping destinations to visit in the UK. Our offices are located in the town centre just a few steps from the ancient market, a thriving town centre and the waterfront.

About us
The Business Support Service was created in January 2013 bringing together many of the day to day support functions from across the organisation and centralising into one service. We completed our first major restructure earlier this year, creating two key functions in the new service. One function is focussed on operational delivery of administrative support across all areas within the Council, and the other on continuous improvement, developing a culture of innovation and efficient delivery across the services. As a service, we are extremely proud to have successfully been accredited four years in a row with the world-renowned ISO9001:2015 standard, which illustrates our commitment to quality standards.

About the role
We have multiple roles to recruit across our three hubs in the Operations arm of Business Support. The Hubs provide comprehensive support to a range of Council services. The specialist hubs of People and Place focus on tasks where attention to detail, ability to develop technical expertise and to constructively challenge are a must. These will include tasks such as validating planning applications and administering planning appeals in our Place Hub; and taking calls from vulnerable clients and service users in our learning disabilities and mental health team in our People Hub for example.

The Corporate Hub is where all standard administrative and transactional tasks across the service sit. Flexibility, adaptability and a digital mindset are critical skills for anyone to work in the Corporate Hub. You could be supporting housing tenants with their request for housing repairs, working in our print unit, undertaking tasks around Environmental Health or completing finance tasks such as creating purchase orders.

You may also provide support to meetings/events and help us continue on our journey to improve our processes and ways of working. These roles report directly to one of the Operational Hub Managers.

About you
For all our roles we are looking for individuals with:
- excellent communication skills
- ability to embrace and demonstrate a digital mindset
