Fully qualified British Sign Language / English Interpreter
17.5 hours per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and alternate Wednesdays)
We are seeking to recruit a fully qualified BSL/English Interpreter to join the forward-thinking, innovative interpreting team in Islington.
The postholder will undertake a variety of interpreting assignments across the Local Authority, the health service and other services within the borough and surrounding areas.
We welcome applications from committed and motivated BSL/English Interpreters with experience of interpreting in a variety of domains and settings and with a wide range of Deaf people.
You will join an established, committed and dynamic staff team, which currently consists of a Team Manager, three other part time Interpreters and three service co-ordinators.
The service is not an agency and its focus is on meeting the communication needs of the Deaf community in Islington and the surrounding area.
You are expected to have sound knowledge of issues relating to the Deaf community and a clear understanding of the role of a BSL/English Interpreter. You must also have a willingness to continue professional development and an excellent command of written and spoken English.
You must be eligible to register with the NRCPD as a Registered Sign Language Interpreter.
