About the role
The Safer Communities Team delivers community safety and related services to individuals and communities in Brighton and Hove on behalf of Brighton & Hove City Council.
Within the Safer Communities Team is the Community Safety Casework Team (CSCT). The principle aim of the CSCT is to work with individuals and communities to tackle, prevent and reduce the harm caused by hate incidents & anti-social behaviour. The team uses a range of tools and powers available to support and protect both victims and witnesses, and to encourage and require perpetrators to address and change their behaviours. The team’s approach is underpinned by restorative practice, and it uses restorative interventions whenever appropriate.
In responding to concerns within the community we work with a range of partner agencies including Police, Housing providers, Probation, Youth Offending Service, Child and Adult safeguarding agencies, local businesses and the voluntary and community sector.
You will be an experienced caseworker with substantial experience of multi-agency working and problem solving, and will be motivated to make an effective and real contribution to community safety in Brighton & Hove. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload, co-ordinating both victim and perpetrator action plans, ensuring that supportive interventions and enforcement measures are used when necessary and appropriate.
The team’s five caseworkers share responsibility for providing a duty service during office hours, taking reports and providing advice, guidance and support to members of the public and professionals in relation to anti-social behaviour and hate incidents across the city.
You will also be engaging with communities to ensure that they have trust and confidence in the Casework Team.
The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check as part of the recruitment process.
Contract: Full Time - 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (with occasional evening work).

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency's Points-based Immigration System.
