The Economy and Partnerships Team works to deliver the Council’s ambitious vision for all of Lewisham’s citizens. Our aim is to work alongside our diverse communities to help deliver prosperity and opportunity for all. Facilitating the creation and take up of apprenticeship opportunities to enable our residents to gain skills and experience for work or to retrain into new careers is a key priority of the council’s leadership team with a Corporate Strategy commitment to delivering 250 by March 2022.
This role is responsible for managing the award winning Mayor’s Apprenticeship Programme. The key elements of the role include:-
• Working with Council services, schools, external partner organisations and local businesses to identify suitable opportunities for apprenticeships
• Promoting apprenticeship opportunities and front end recruitment
• Commissioning training provision for apprentices
• Ensuring there is support for apprentices and their managers enabling the apprentices to achieve successful outcomes
• Managing the Apprenticeship Programme Apprentice
What we’re looking for
We are looking for a dynamic and innovative individual with the experience, skills and abilities to lead on our apprenticeship work and to act as the main advocate and promoter of apprenticeships within the Council and with our external partners. The ideal individual will also be able to build and maintain strong working relationships with the apprentices, their managers and with the training organisations.
