This is an exciting opportunity to work on a local authority regeneration programme like no other. Camden’s Community Investment programme (CIP) is a 15 year self-funded £1billion programme, making Camden one of the leading Council-developers in the UK and amongst the biggest developers of social housing in London.
We will build over 3,000 new homes through a variety of mixed-use regeneration projects, including 1,400 affordable homes, paid for by the sale of 1,650 private homes. But that’s not all; we are also building four new school buildings, studios for homeless people, community facilities and health centres and generating receipts for investment into existing homes and facilities.
CIP is a political priority and is at the heart of delivering Camden 2025: our vision for the future of the borough.
What we have achieved so far
CIP has already achieved a great deal with over 850 homes completed, 120 currently on site and Cabinet approval and planning permission for a further 1,250 homes. We have also completed two new primary school buildings, new community centres and tenant halls and refurbished an old Victorian workhouse into a state of the art residential training centre for single homeless people.
The scale of activity and ambition means Camden is leading the way in its pioneering approach to house building. CIP schemes have been recognised as the very best in architecture, planning and development in the city, winning multiple awards. Most recently the new Kingsgate Primary School building was one of only three schools in the country to win a national RIBA award for design and the Bourne Estate was the overall winner at the 2018 Housing Design Awards as well as wining a RIBA London award.
This is an exciting role for a proactive and diligent team leader. You will lead and support a team of 10 officers delivering a range of exiting projects at different phases of the project life cycle. We are the lead developer on many of our schemes and we seek innovative approaches to procurement to maximise benefits from working in partnership with developers.
You will be all about delivering results whilst driving the team of staff and consultants to success. You will look to find new ways of working and bringing together various external stakeholders such as; councillors, leaseholders, residents, and establish and deliver a shared vision for these estates. You will have a good knowledge of project management processes, defining business cases and managing design development, construction and safety responsibilities as well as a recognised degree level qualification in regeneration or construction project management. You will also have a good understanding of regulations, sustainability, property law and communities and engagement techniques.
