Make A Difference In Social Care

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

We are an Ofsted rated “Good” authority and we are rated “Outstanding” for the service we provide children in care and care leavers.

Brent are busy building a social work future for our children and their families and we would love you to be part of it. This year we introduced a new practice framework to demonstrate how we work in the borough. You will receive regular supervision and relevant training opportunities.

The post of Personal Advisor with the Brent’s Care Leavers’ Service can be both challenging and rewarding. You will be working within the leaving care team which is part of Brent’s Looked After Children and Permanency Service.

Many of the young people we work with have very complex needs, and some of the skills you will be required to undertake in the role are patience, enthusiasm and flexibility. You will hold a case load of care leavers providing support and undertaking the role of personal advisor as described in the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017.

The Person

The successful candidate will have a detailed understanding of housing, benefits, mental health and education and training issues so you can work towards measurable outcomes.

You will have a minimum qualification of an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent and should have extensive experience of working with young people in care setting, youth work or youth justice.

Closing Date: 21January 2019 (23:00)
Assessment & Interview Date: To Be Confirmed
