Leader's Policy and Political Officer
Permanent – Full Time
Location: Redbridge Town Hall/Lynton House
Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse and exciting east-London borough. What we do is driven by changing our relationship with local people to support our vision. As a result, we've developed innovative ways to build our communities and transform our Council.
We're one of the fastest growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open space and rapid transport connections into the heart of the city.
We are looking for a Leader’s Policy & Political Officer to provide high-level political, policy, and administrative support to the Leader, Cabinet, and the Leader’s Office. This is a pivotal role acting as a key liaison between Members, officers, and external stakeholders, ensuring the effective operation of the Cabinet and supporting the delivery of strategic priorities through research, communications, and project management. You will prepare briefings, draft speeches, manage media enquiries, and keep the Cabinet informed of political developments at all levels.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of local government and the political context, excellent communication skills, and experience working in a political environment. You’ll be confident in managing competing priorities, producing high-quality reports and briefings, and maintaining confidentiality. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential, and this post is politically restricted under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
Interview Date: w/c 1st December 2025
