An exciting opportunity has arisen for an outstanding teacher to join our wonderful school as our English and Literacy Subject Leader. We welcome applicants from a range of teaching backgrounds, including primary, secondary and/or special needs experience.

The successful candidate will:

Be an inspirational teacher passionate about raising school standards and achievement for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in English and Literacy.
Have a track record of making a difference to pupil progress and outcomes in English, Literacy and beyond.
Be an outstanding classroom practitioner.
Have knowledge of the National Curriculum and how to adapt schemes of work to meet the range of needs of SEND learners.
Able to deliver a range of qualifications, including GCSE English Language and Literature.
Have a commitment to extra-curricular activity.
Be keen to lead our phonics programme (currently in partnership with other staff).
Be able to lead Woodlane's Dyslexia Friendly approach to raise the literacy standards of our pupils.
Be a lead in the use of SLCN strategies to support teaching and learning.
Be keen to share best practice with others through INSET/Outreach.
Be someone who is highly organised and resilient.
Be someone who puts safeguarding and child protection at the centre of practice.

The position will include:

*The leadership and teaching of English and Literacy at KS3 and KS4 level.

The leadership and management of Literacy (including phonics) on a whole school level.
Teaching and preparing pupils for various relevant qualifications in English.
Supporting staff/pupils/parents to raise achievement in English and Literacy.
Providing INSET to staff.
The delivery of extra-curricular activity.
Devising EHCPs and hosting Annual Review meetings (not currently required).
