The post holder will adhere to the agreed service standards, inclusive of but not subject to equipment checks, reporting defects, cleanliness and general security safety checks of the block/s.
Daily works include changing the bins, removing litter, removing sharps, removing low level graffiti (if unable to remove this will need to be raised to the Neighbourhood Caretaker Manager), hard surface weed removal and reacting to raised cleansing requests from line manager. During periods of snow and abnormal weather conditions the Estate Service Operative will be required to support other teams.
The service will be customer focused. As the first point of contact the Estate Service Operative will be representing the council and therefore should present there selves respectfully.
It is essential for staff to undertake health and safety training. The Estate Service Operative will need to keep up to date with recent and new health and safety documentation (PPE, COSHH assessments, Risk Assessments, Accident/incident/near miss reporting, changes in legislation). Training of new tools, equipment and cleaning techniques will be delivered locally (unless specified by the health and safety team).
The post holder will be line managed by the Neighbourhood Caretaking Manger. 
Essential:

- Understand, diagnose and report basic repairs.
- Experience of working with the public either individually or part of a team.  With the ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Flexible co-operative approach to work, which includes the ability to climb stairways, ladders and lift and carry objects.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the importance of Health & Safety in the work environment including issues you are likely to encounter whilst working on an estate.
- Ability and commitment to provide a quality customer focused service to achieve set standards whilst undertaking repetitive and routine tasks to a consistent high standard.

Desirable:

- Basic knowledge and understanding of a variety of internal and external cleaning techniques.
- Previous experience of diagnosing repairs for reporting to technical and housing management staff.

Successful applicant will be required to undergo a DBS check prior to employment.
