It's an exciting time to be joining Southwark Council as we prepare to open our first children’s home. Our vision is to help transform our children and young people lives through developing meaningful nurturing relationships, consistently providing high-quality personalised care and enabling our children and young people to flourish.

We are recruiting to our final few Residential Practitioner positions. We particularly welcome applications from sections of the community that are currently underrepresented within our teams, including males.

About the Role:

As a Residential Practitioner, you'll create a safe, child-centred and homely environment for our children. You'll be part of a diverse, experienced and skilled team supported by our leaders and managers as well as our in-house clinical team.

Requirements:

  • Passionate about supporting children and young people whilst enabling them to achieve their full potential.
  • Level 3 qualification or equivalent, or commitment to undertaking the relevant course post-probation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislation and guidance in relation to safeguarding children and children's homes.
  • Experience of working directly with children in a residential setting (e.g. children's home).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, team members and multi-agency colleagues.
