About the role:
Waltham Forest is setting an ambitious vision for a changed borough by 2030 with the development of our new Corporate Plan, Mission Waltham Forest. The scale of inequality faced by our residents is all too often the barrier that holds people back from realising their ambitions. Local government is also facing unprecedented financial challenges. Mission Waltham Forest sets out how we will respond to these complex societal challenges whilst keeping a firm financial footing.
To deliver on this ambitious agenda, we are mobilising a multi-year Transformation Programme. We must confront the pressing challenge of increasing demand and diminishing resources - to do this we will need to fundamentally change the way we work and set out a radical transition to delivering an outstanding experience for every resident that needs our help.
The Strategy and Change Team sits at the heart of the organisation. As the Project and Assurance Coordinator, you will be involved in a wide range of Transformation activity, from working with Programme and Project Managers as they plan and deliver work for individual Programme Areas, to supporting assurance activity of the Programme as a whole. In addition, you will be coordinating key corporate activities such as monthly performance reporting, working closely with officers, senior manaagers and heads of service across the organisation. The role is also a critical pivot across the Strategy & Change service- providing administrative support to the Corporate Director and wider service, forward planning and coordinating key events and project work, and working with the Assurance & Oversight team around resource management and prioritisation.

Key responsibilities:
- Provide programme and project support to directorates delivery portfolio as required
- Support PMO and assurance processes within the Transformation Programme and wider Strategy and Change team
- Effectively support the Corporate Director and their team through diary and inbox management systems and processes
- Effectively support the key priorities and any associated risks and issues of the Directorate the wider aims of the council
- Lead on/ manage non-complex projects as required as part of the directorate's delivery portfolio.
- Experience of supporting complex projects and programmes in managing and reporting project progress, risks and issues, budgets, decisions to senior stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational skills with experience of organising meetings and events with internal or external stakeholders
- Work effectively as part of a team and have a genuine desire to assist colleagues.
- Be adaptable and resilient in order to respond to changing work priorities in a fast paced environment
