About the role:
Billing and collection of Council Tax and National Non-Domestic Rates has never been more important here at Waltham Forest and we have exciting opportunities for experienced Revenues Officers to join our busy Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates Teams as Revenues Officers on a permanent basis.
You will have a minimum of one years' experience of working in a Revenues Team.
We operate a hybrid way of working. The Team currently work on a rota basis which involves a combination of home and office working.

Responsibilities include:
- All aspects of Council Tax and National Non-Domestic Rates administration such as billing, discounts, exemptions, reliefs and all aspects of recovery.
- Dealing with customer queries with professionalism and care, and ensuring all necessary action is taken to collect revenue efficiently and effectively.
- To process applications for discounts, exemptions and reliefs to maximise Council Tax and National Non-Domestic Rates collection.
- Setting up new accounts, closing old accounts.
- Answering both written and verbal enquires.
- The successful candidate will provide advice to businesses and their agents regarding liability, and eligibility to reliefs.
- Assisting in all activities relating to the billing and collection of Council Tax and National Non-Domestics Rates.
- The successful candidate will take timely recovery action against non-payers of Council Tax and National Non-Domestics Rates.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be an individual who demonstrates a compassionate, enthusiastic, respectful and `can-do` approach to work, as you will be dealing with our residents, businesses and stakeholders.
Experience of working in a Revenues and Benefits environment alongside excellent communication and customer care skills are essential.
You must be able to work as part of a team to deliver an excellent service to our residents and stakeholders we support and be flexible in your approach to work.
Excellent oral and written communication skills is essential to this post.
You will have a commitment to equality and diversity and take a positive approach to supporting others.
You will also be required to have a good working knowledge of using revenues operating and document management systems and Microsoft packages.
You will have excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise workloads in a busy working environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
English and Math Qualification (GCSE grade 4 or equivalent grade C or above), or relevant experience.
Relevant professional qualification or membership such as IRRV would be desirable.
Experience of using a document management system and a core processing system within a Revenues and Benefits Service.
