The opportunity through growth has arisen to join a busy Technical Services Team ISO9001 accredited, the Hard FM part of the in-house Facilities Management services this is a full time role working with in the Mechanical engineering team as one of the lead Mechanical engineers

 

The TST team deliver a wide range of statutory compliance programs and capital improvement projects for the councils corporate and education property portfolio (Non-housing). The Technical Services Team is the construction arm of Facilities Management and was short listed for the New London Awards in 2019 for its extensive remodelling/ refurbishment of an Edwardian Period Library in Bethnal Green.

The Technical Services Team consists of specialist teams mechanical engineers, building surveyors and electrical engineers with senior engineers and surveyors as the relevant team leaders reporting to the Head of Technical Services

The Lead Mechanical Project Engineer post holder will organise, manage and oversee the delivery of a high quality, cost effective mechanical engineering service for allocated tasks and projects in accordance with the needs of various client groups requiring a broad based knowledge of all aspects of Mechanical works from Gas Fired boiler systems, Large Ventilation plant, Legionella control, lifts, air source heat pumps through to refrigeration and air conditioning.


Key Responsibilities


Responsible for managing and leading on all allotted Mechanical aspects under direction from the Senior Mechanical Engineer regarding the planning, review and delivery of these mechanical engineering works to fully meet the requirements of the Council’s corporate repairs, Statutory maintenance and development, revenue and capital programmes.

 

As an acknowledged mechanical engineering expert across the broad portfolio of works including but not limited to mechanical refurbishment projects of large multi floor office blocks, through to the technical expert to guide mechanical contractors operatives in the correct processes to maintain the councils broad range of equipment in its portfolio of non-housing buildings ensuring reactive repairs are correctly specified and delivered.


The development of designs from conception for Boiler room plant, Air Source heat pump heating system, Air Handling units/ cooling ventilation systems through specification and formal tender process to managing project delivery within agreed time and cost constraints.



The role includes providing technical advice on various works and projects required to maintain, improve and/or develop corporate property. Design, specification and management of Mechanical projects and statutory compliance programs for the full range of Mechanical aspects

 

Requirements

Degree in a relevant Mechanical Engineering topic and practical experience in construction or building services or with extensive relevant diverse practical experience combined with a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical engineering.


The role requires extensive experience in direct management of Mechanical contractors/ qualified Mechanical operatives delivering works to commercial property portfolio and equipment in the following disciplines Gas Boilers, Large Ventilation plant, Air conditioning
