About Directorate
The Programmes, Performance and Risk (PPR) Service is part of the new Strategy and innovation Directorate. The Service oversees the council’s approach to programmes, performance and risk management, providing assurance on the delivery of outcomes in Our Plan for Barnet and via our strategic contract with Capita, as well as providing executive support to CMT and business support to Executive Directors.

About the role
The post holder will develop, maintain and promote a robust and effective performance and risk management regime. They will work collaboratively across the council, including with strategic contractors, to support and challenge services and ensure the council achieves effective outcomes for residents. 

Immediate priorities will include:
•    Delivering our monitoring framework for reporting progress on Our Plan for Barnet 
•    Creating new PowerBI dashboards to link data for better insight
•    Leading on performance and risk ‘deep dive’ reviews
•    Reviewing best practice and facilitating a comprehensive review of strategic risks
•    Conducting research and analysis to provide insights and recommendations for service improvement and innovation.

About you
The post holder will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to establish and maintain effective  working relationships across the organisation. They will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of performance and risk management; have practical experience of developing systems, writing reports and creating dashboards; an ability to interpret complex subject areas and problem solve; and display excellent judgement and political awareness.
