Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

This is an exciting opportunity to join our creative policy team where we develop and implement polices that make a real difference to the lives of our residents. You will join us as we embed and deliver our new EDI ambitions centred around our focus of inclusivity and establishing Brent as a leader in this area. You will contribute to the delivery and development of our equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) ambitions which are central to the Council’s strategic objectives.

As the Strategy Lead – Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, you will be part of a small team who work with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders, to drive our EDI ambitions. You will lead and develop EDI initiatives and projects and advise the organisation around its EDI responsibilities, grounded in your knowledge of best practice.

You will have a delivery and outcomes-centred mindset, coupled with the ability to involve and bring stakeholders along on a journey. This means you can build and maintain strong relationships, both internally and externally.

This role requires someone who is a good communicator, confident to work independently and has the ability to follow things through and use initiative. You will have previous demonstrable experience of delivering impactful initiatives and driving positive change. Whilst we are proud of all the good work we have undertaken to date; we know we still have a long way to go.
