About the role:

The Senior Finance Office will support senior finance staff in the provision of an efficient and effective financial support service to cost centre and other managers. To ensure services are delivered in accordance with service objectives, financial regulations, and within guidelines and frameworks set by the Director of Finance.

The candidate will require good IT skills specifically MSOffice and other Accounting systems however, additional training will be available in the use of other systems used by the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake Financial and other reconciliations;
  • Maintain all required records and information, including the analysis and interpretation of complex information;
  • Develop specialist documents / materials / activities to support / promote the service area;
  • Provide advice and guidance to colleagues, customers and stakeholders. Manage escalated or complex customer issues within the Children and Young People Directorate.
  • Involvement in the ongoing improvements to the financial management process including an understanding of Social care case management systems and its link with the budget monitoring process.
  • Develop good working relationships, develop community links and communicate effectively with internal / external organisations / partners and stakeholders. Represent the finance team internally and / or externally.
  • Support and undertake tasks in relation to the budget setting, budget monitoring and account closedown process

Qualifications and Requirements:

Although no specific qualification is required, preference will be given to candidates studying a professional Accountancy qualification including AAT.
