The Post

This is an exciting opportunity for a Personal Advisor to join the leaving care service. The Leaving Care Service has expanded to 3 teams supporting care leavers aged 18 to 25. This is to strengthen the management support to young people and staff as we are expand our service, which includes extra resources to joint allocate personal advisors at 16, to manage the extra support provided to care leavers at 21 and those who return to the service for extra support. We are also recruiting social worker into each of the leaving care teams, to assist and manage the more complex cases in the service. The Leaving Care Teams are part of the LAC and Permanency Service and work with care leavers from the age of 18 up to 25.

You will work in partnership with colleagues in the Children and Young people department, wider council, police, aligned and commissioned services as well as voluntary agencies, to ensure that the LA’s statutory duties are carried out and delivered effectively.

We are an Ofsted rated “Good” authority and we are rated “Good” for the service we provide children in care and care leavers.  

The Person

The successful candidate will have a detailed understanding of housing, benefits, mental health and education and training issues so you can work towards measurable outcomes. 

You will have a minimum qualification of an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent and should have extensive experience of working with young people in care setting, youth work or youth justice.
