Housing Enforcement Officers (Private Sector Housing)

Permanent, 36 hours per week

An excellent opportunity has arisen in the Private Sector Housing Enforcement Team.  We are looking for keen, enthusiastic, and experienced Housing Enforcement Officers, who will complement and add value to our existing skilled workforce.

The Private Sector Housing Team is part of the Consumer Protection and Licensing Directorate of Civic Pride.

As a Housing Enforcement Officer, you will investigate poor conditions in the Private Rented Sector. You will respond to service requests from residents, take part in pro-active enforcement action and also deal with licensing of houses in multiple occupation.  The role will demand knowledge of Housing legislation, enforcement procedures and casework, HHSRS and guidance.

The successful applicant is likely to have worked in a local authority Environmental Health and Housing setting for at least two years, and will be able to demonstrate good knowledge and experience of associated statutory and regulatory functions.

The post holder is required to drive in the course of their duties and the candidate must have a driving licence. This post meets the criteria for Essential Car User.

Redbridge operates flexible working.

A valid driving licence and use of a car with appropriate insurance for work is advantageous for which a car user allowance is payable. Reasonable adjustments will be considered for disabled candidates.

This post has been designated as safety critical in accordance with the Council’s Alcohol, Drugs and Substance Misuse Policy.

For an informal discussion about the above posts, please contact Shamol Ali, Private Sector Housing Manager on 0208 708 4421.
