An Excellent Opportunity to Gain Experience in a Successful Conference and Events Team

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

We are looking for an experienced Senior Operations Supervisor to join our busy Conference and Events Team, manage two Event Stewards and provide support to the Sales and Marketing Manager. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a variety of high profile civic, democratic, community, corporate and private events.

'The Drum at Wembley' is Brent Council's brand new conference and special events centre at the heart of Wembley only 9 minutes from central London. Located within the UK's Greenest Public Building Brent Civic Centre.

The Drum at Wembley first opened for business in June 2013 and since then has rapidly gone from strength to strength attracting high profile clients and large scale events. The Conference and Events Team now manage approximately 40 event activities across 10 event spaces per week, Monday to Sunday, ranging from small boardroom meetings for internal departments through to external events for 1000 guests over multiple days.

For more information about the individual event spaces please see: http://www.thedrumatwembley.com

You will oversee each event from start to finish including set-ups, clearing up and ensuring that the venue space is equipped according to the event brief and fit for purpose. This will involve ensuring all event resources are set up in time for the event, adherence to health and safety policies and regulations and responding in a timely and friendly manner to client requests. You will also be responsible for supervising all event staff including event stewards, agency, casual staff and external suppliers/contractors.

The post-holder will deliver excellent customer service and will develop and maintain good relationships across the Council.

The Person

We are looking for a motivated individual who is a team player with experience of working in an operational role, either for an events venue or hotel.

The role requires attention to detail, strong time management and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise their workload in a busy and dynamic environment. Will need to be flexible with a "can do" attitude, able to work under pressure and a passion to exceed customer satisfaction. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills are also essential.

If this sounds like you and you are looking to take the next step in your career and join a large, multi-function venue centre, then please get in touch.

Closing Date: 22 July 2024 (23:59)
