Permanent – Full Time

The London Borough of Redbridge is looking to recruit experienced Benefits Officers/Welfare Benefits advisors to join our Benefits Service.

The principal business of our high performing Benefits Service is the administration of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction, deciding all discretionary housing and Council Tax hardship requests and the recovery of Housing Benefit overpayments. In addition, the Service prides itself on its high-quality welfare benefit provision for those who are the most vulnerable in our community.

We expect the successful candidate to have experience as a welfare benefit advisor, the ability to undertake related casework, an in-depth understanding of the benefits system and sound knowledge of national and local initiatives, as well as income maximisation money management, and debt advice skills.

You will be required to conduct home visits/office appointments with residents to assist with the completion of relevant forms and provide outreach services to residents and stakeholders around the borough.

The post is open to all candidates with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and experience to fulfil the role profile outlined above and included in the Job Description and Person Specification.
