Role Purpose 

To provide and lead on project management and advice to support a wide range of project types including schemes for housing, education, infrastructure, public realm improvements, sports and leisure. 

The role includes building positive relationships with key stakeholders and working with workstream leads to identify and manage project dependencies, risks, issues and actions. 

Key Responsibilities 

You will provide a high-quality specialist project management expertise and technical advice relating to number of capital projects in the Capital Programme and are identified through the Council’s Strategic Planning Processes including the compilation of project management reports and helping the team to track and report on progress across a range of project workstreams.   

The postholder will engage with and build professional relationships with workstream leads and key stakeholders to facilitate a professional project management environment for project delivery.  

The post holder will also be required to undertake the development of tender documents and project specifications that will provide the required technical expertise to deliver the project scheme, with the ability to respond effectively to tight deadlines in a pressured environment. The post holder may be required to act on behalf of the Council. 

Requirements 

You will be able to demonstrate proven knowledge and understanding of project management best practice/tools within a capital project delivery environment, together with an understanding of a capital projects lifecycle - the key milestones/tasks involved at design; procurement; construction and operation phases. 

You will have a good knowledge of the risks and opportunities inherent in major capital project delivery, and the tools to manage and maximise these throughout a project’s lifecycle.  

You will hold a project management or relevant technical qualification, or have significant relevant professional experience.
