The Net Zero Carbon programme is a priority corporate programme with a council commitment to deliver net zero carbon by 2030. This programme directly supports the Council’s Islington Together 2030 Plan and its five missions including “A greener healthier Islington”.
The Net Zero Carbon Programme team, which consists of the Head of Service, Strategic Leads and the Programme Performance Officer, are responsible for working with the eight work streams that have been established to deliver the commitments set out in the Net Zero Carbon strategy (Vision 2030). Following a departmental restructure, the team will be re-named the Climate Action team.
Main duties of the job
The Programme Performance Officer will be the service’s data analysis and monitoring specialist. Working closely with the Strategic Leads, they will establish and maintain robust programme governance and performance monitoring frameworks and be responsible for effective reporting of our progress towards a net zero carbon Islington.
Key areas of work include:
- Establishing and maintaining robust project management processes and procedures.
- Establishing and maintaining effective monitoring and reporting of progress to senior leaders, councillors and the public.
- Compiling and presenting data and evidence to inform the council’s climate action strategy and decision-making, and demonstrate impact of the programme.
- Driving a culture change so that climate action is embedded in the everyday operation of the council.
