Shared Technology Services are looking for a Service Design Officer

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Shared Technology Service serves three London Boroughs – Brent, Lewisham and Southwark and their associated partners such as Lewisham Homes and Local Government Authority (LGA).

The Post

Shared Technology Services are looking for a Service Design Officer to continuously review and redesign service delivery to improve service and reduce costs where possible by supporting senior management, advising on business planning, service design performance and data analysis.

In this role you will work alongside teams and individuals to understand where service redesign and/or improvement is needed as well as using data analysis to advise on performance management, working alongside Heads of Service to ensure redesign is effective.

The successful applicant will lead on the implementation of projects involving changes to service throughout the process, from inception to operation, and further monitoring once the solution is in place. Additionally, they will assess opportunities for change using analytical modelling and forecasting.

Other responsibilities will include developing an IT Service Catalogue, including FAQs etc., and leading workshops to discover what alterations to service are needed.

The Person

We are looking for a candidate who can bring a design-led, holistic approach to service improvement, with the ability to effectively communicate to colleagues across all levels of the business and influence decision making using data.

The ideal candidate therefore will have strong data management and analysis skills, using them to provide evidence for Heads of Service to help improve our services. You will have experience of working in roles with a culture of high quality and effective performance, as well as evidence of influencing service improvement.

Other experience should include managing 3rd party service providers and ensuring their SLAs are adhered to. The successful candidate will also have knowledge of local council delivery and performance management systems and reporting tools.
